Counter-Strike Source Update Coming Soon
|

CS:S is going orange, Orangebox that is.
Valve is brushing the cob webs off CS:S and updating it with the orangebox engine, much like they did for DoD:S a while back. Many of the new features are familiar if you have played TF2 or DoD:S, but now it is Counter-Strike's turn for a makeover Here is a list of some known features:
- 144 achievements added
- New lifetime player stats and summary screens
- New match player stats and summary screens
- New end of round display with MVP and interesting fact about a player
- Updated scoreboard with new icons, visual style, MVP stars, and avatar pictures
- New cinematic death camera
- New domination and revenge system
- Added avatar icons to voice chat, scoreboard, and end of round display
- Incorporated many source engine updates
The update has yet to be officially released, however, it should come out soon enough.

Left 4 Dead 2 "The Passing" DLC Released
|

The first downloadable content for Left 4 Dead 2 was released on Thursday. Title "The Passing", it tells the story of the L4D2 cast as they cross from Dead Center to The Carnival campaign. Along the way they encounter 3 of the original 4 survivors from L4D 1. Equipped with new weapons such as the M60 machine gun and a gold club, the crew must battle though 3 maps in this campaign to continue their trek. There is also a new uncommon common infected named the "fallen survivor" who carries supplies just like normal survivors but became infected. Don't let that guy get away, medkits are hard to come by.
In addition to this content,, weekly scheduled events called "Mutations" will give L4D2 a dynamic twist concerning its gameplay. These are essentially tweaks to the normal game rules. For example, this weeks "Mutation" is Realism Versus which disables are helpful glows and hints for the survivor team. Hope you have your mic on when a jockey comes to ride you away. Another talked about mode that may be thrown in the mix is Chainsaw Massacre in which only unlimited gas chainsaws can be used. To stay up-to-date with all the latest news check the L4D2 Blog every Thursday. You can even access it while in Left 4 Dead 2 by clicking on "Blog Post" in the main menu.

Well if you haven't been paying attention then you might not have heard about all the Left 4 dead 2 News there is out there. As we all know there is going to be a bevvy of new special infected in the new release.
In past news stories we have discussed the new Special Infected(SI), namely the charger and the Spitter. Well we have a new nemesis friends. This new SI is called the Jockey will be able to pounce the survivors much like a hunter does but it will get on your back and while it it ripping apart your flesh it will be able to control your movements.
The Jockey was announced along with the next campaign, that is named "Dark Carnival" and just in case you were wondering yes... oh yes, there are clowns in this nightmare!!
Now enough from me.... how bouts some Screenies!

New Left 4 Dead DLC due next month
|

Valve announced yesterday that the 2nd of the DLC's for L4D will contain an entirely new campaign. Playable across all modes, (Campaign, Versus, and Survival) the new campaign entitled Crash Course, intends to tie together the end of No Mercy and the beginning of Death Toll. Whether or not this is a bit of foreshadowing into the prospect of future DLC's connecting Death Toll to Dead Air and Dead Air to Blood Harvest remains a mystery. Crash Course is also much smaller than the other campaigns, intended to turn a 2 hour versus game into a fast and furious 30 minutes. With new dialogue, this is sure to feel new and refreshing.
Look for the DLC to be available on both PC (For free) and XBox 360 (For 560 points) this September.

Fallout 3 system specs have been released for those of you excited about the follow up to the 1997 and 1999 Fallout RPGs by Black Isle studios. Fallout 3 will be be made for by Bestheda software (the people who made Morrowind and Oblivion) and will vary from the original fallout games in that they are real time and first person for the most part, however hopefully it should be anyways. The game is slated for release on October 28. Click read more to see what the system specs are. If you can't run the game, it will also be available for PS3 and xbox 360, however any hardcore PC RPG gamers will know fallout is a PC game at heart ;).

So today at thier confrence Nintendo announced what the the latest and greatest Nintendo DS will be. When it gets released the new DS will have a digital camera, a SD card slot, 2x touch screens and the screens will be bigger.
Now what games we see that actually require the use of 2 screens...that is another issue. But if any of those features are your cup of tea then just wait a little while and you can have another device that takes picutres.

For those of you who like rhythm based games Rock Band 2 came out for the Xbox 360 today. At the moment it is just the game so if you don't own the instruments or want if for PS3 or Wii you will have to wait, but otherwise turn up the sound and have some fun with friends.
